G-SCOPE
Developed for complete examination for both diamonds and coloured stones

The HRD-Gemmological microscope has been especially developed to facilitate the complete examination of both diamonds and coloured stones. For this purpose, the whole microscope has been positioned horizontally to allow viewing while using immersion liquids in transmission/immersion illumination.

A standard G-scope is equipped with a Comdiam optics, a removable and movable darkfield lighting, an xy-table with vacuum gem-manipulator set and a transport case with spare-parts.
Extra accessories can be simply added with minor adjustments.

  • The GEM-microscope can be used both for diamonds and for coloured stones
  • A revolutionary, highly effective dark-field condenser for a maximum visibility of inclusions and flaws in diamonds grading, and for identification purposes in coloured stones
  • The high-intensity halogen lamp can be moved freely to obtain oblique and coaxial illumination
  • The x/y stage features a vacuum gem-manipulator and/or an immersion liquid cuvette-holder

The optics

Stereo Zoom microscopes provide the ability to see fine details in three dimensions. The optical excellence permits better, faster, more reliable identification, analyses and measurements. It is designed for years of rugged use and it produces a three-dimensional image that mimics the depth perception and colour sensitivity capabilities of the human eye. The long working distance and narrow objective body design allow easy manipulation of the inspected diamond.
With the G-scope one of the four different optics are offered (tri-optics available on request):

  • Zeiss
  • Leica
  • Olympus
  • Comdiam

When ordering, one of the above optics must be chosen. If you have an old type of microscope, but the optics are still in good shape, we can even deliver you the D-scope without optics. We only have to provide you with the right optics-holder

The lighting

The foot of the microscope contains a darkfield (which is also removable) with movable halogen lighting. This way the lamp can be put at several places depending on what the viewer wants to check. For example it is possible to place the lighting in one of the oculars.
Darkfield is perfect to examine even the smallest inclusions.

The extra overhead lighting consists out of a daylight illumination and a fluorescence light.
The daylight is useful to study clarity and even colour. The conditions of an examination with a loupe 10x in daylight can be simulated. With the overhead fluorescence illumination it is possible to study the fluorescence of diamonds.
The overhead lighting can be tilted forward and backward for an optimal positioning.

Manipulation

By means of a vacuum gem-manipulator the stones can be manipulated and examined with one hand. Due to the xy-table the manipulator can be lifted upwards or downwards.

When examining a stone with a high refractive index the transmission light causes an internal reflection on the facets. In this way no light gets to the examinator. To avoid this, the gemstone can be immersed in a special fluid. Therefore a special xy-table with immersion cell and magnetic tweezers must be mounted on the microscope instead of the normal xy-table with vacuum gem-manipulator
