The price of a gem diamond is mainly determined by its
characteristics, the traditional "4 Cs" (Cut, Carat, Colour
and Clarity). But also other influences like shape and the daily situation
of supply and demand affect prices in an important way. Excalibur
can import price sheets and, if necessary, adapt these to the personal
economic reality. The data are ordered by shape, weight, colour and clarity.
Excalibur also calculates the difference in yield of two defined solutions.
A graphical 3D-display shows the different solutions.
- Determinating the potential in the same rough:
ex. Is solutions makeable more profitable than a solution
for a sawable?
- Supervision of production: ex. May a brilliant
expected to have a weight of 0.70ct, colour I and clarity I2 be cut
as a brilliant of 0.60ct, colour I and cut SI2?
- Choice of production methods: ex. Does a specific
rough stone has to be sawn in the traditional way to obtain two brilliants
or will it be more profitable to saw by laser?
- Influences of production tolerances: ex. Is
it justified choosing a cheaper cutting process that will produce a
brilliant of 0.51ct instead of choosing a more expensive process that
will result in a brilliant of 0.53ct?
- Determinating discounts regarding possible recutting.
