To support confidence in diamonds, a new screening device D-Screen has been developed by HRD Research.
Well-equipped grading labs have all the necessary instruments to conclusively identify polished colourless or near-colourless diamonds, but this sophisticated equipment is not readily available to all.
This is where the D-Screen comes in...

... this instrument distinguishes polished colourless or near-colourless diamonds that are neither synthetic nor colour enhanced with techniques known today, from diamonds that require additional sophisticated tests for identification in a grading lab.
The colour range for polished diamonds eligible for testing is D to J.
The measurements are based on the optical transmission through the polished stone at deep UV wavelengths.

D-Screen is a one button instrument, starting D-Screen and performing an automatic check of its functionality. A second detector will monitor the lamp's output to cover failure and contamination even during the measurements.
Once powered, a colorless (or near colorless) diamond can be checked by opening the cover, placing the stone with table down on the pinhole and closing the cover. The measurement will automatically start and after a few seconds the indicators will light up. A second measurement can be performed by opening the cover exchanging the stone and closing the cover. The second measurement will again automatically start, no buttons have to be pushed.
